About Me

My photo
My passion is decorating with vintage and antique finds on a budget. There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of going into a goodwill. That day has passed. :) My second love is scrapbooking all those special family moments for posterity, and I recently set up my very own scrapbooking room. I have three beautiful children, two sons and a daughter as well as a sweet (albeit full blooded Yankee) daughter-in-law and two grandgirls. I also enjoy gardening, meeting new friends and relaxing on my patio in the evenings with a glass of fine wine. During the summer of 2001, I spent two glorious weeks at Kennedy Space Center. I've been somewhat of a space geek ever since....

Thanksgiving Tablescape

I've neglected my blog lately, busy making the adjustment to the single life. It's so freeing to be responsible for only me! I'm learning a lot about myself. There are men out there who truly don't mind shopping (I didn't think they existed on this earth) and who are generous with their compliments. It's nice to feel appreciated. I spent the afternoon yesterday playing with my dishes. Thanks, Susan, over at Between Naps on the Porch for inspiring me. I'll be celebrating Thanksgiving at my son and D-I-L's house so the tablescape is strictly "dish therapy." ;-) CLICK ON THE PICS TO ENLARGE THEM.I can't get enough of my French chef dishes these days. I started with other plates but found that the colors in them coordinated so well with the pumpkins.... What do you think???

Here's a close-up of the berry garland I pull out every fall.

I'm thinking of painting my dining room a lighter color. Any suggestions on color??? The deep red dominates the room and detracts from my tablescapes, don't you think?

HAPPY TURKEY DAY TO ALL!!!!!!!!

  1. Beautiful table settings. The only thing missing is the turkey and cranberries! The red wall isn't all bad, maybe some pictures or wall hangings would lighten it up.

  3. Happy turkey day to you too. Dish therapy can be good fun especially when everyone shares a peek into what they are doing with their tablescapes.

  5. Ms. Joy of Life, your tablescape was simple and beautiful. What's even better is the attitude you have about moving on to better things (obviously, not well treated in your marriage, as was I). I've kissed a lot of frogs and after 12 years of divorce, I still haven't found one worth his weight in chocolate! Have a grand holiday. Jackie
