About Me

My photo
My passion is decorating with vintage and antique finds on a budget. There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of going into a goodwill. That day has passed. :) My second love is scrapbooking all those special family moments for posterity, and I recently set up my very own scrapbooking room. I have three beautiful children, two sons and a daughter as well as a sweet (albeit full blooded Yankee) daughter-in-law and two grandgirls. I also enjoy gardening, meeting new friends and relaxing on my patio in the evenings with a glass of fine wine. During the summer of 2001, I spent two glorious weeks at Kennedy Space Center. I've been somewhat of a space geek ever since....

Chuck E Cheese........ We "Wike" That Guy

Kaitlyn and I took the girls to Chuck E Cheese's last night. Haylee's comment driving in was, "We wike that guy!" Out of the mouths of babes.... We haven't been in a while and they are finally old enough to fully enjoy the fun...... The last time they were a little intimidated by all the kids and the noise. It's been a great week having them here but Gram is exhausted. It's funny how we forget just how much work little ones are......

Wall Color Dilemma

Anyone else HATE choosing wall color? Click on the pic to enlarge it. As of today, I have made two trips to Home Depot and collected dozens of paint chips and purchased four samples of paint........ and still don't know what color to pick. I want a neutral color that blends with gold but isn't gold as I already have a lot of that color in my house. As of tonight, I've narrowed it down to the two colors pictured in the photo. That's Burnt Almond on the left and Brown Teepee on the right..... Burnt Almond matches the browns in the sofa but I'm worried that it might be too dark. It's a big room with 10-foot ceilings and four full length windows and a french door so the light is adequate. Brown Teepee looks washed out in the picture but is actually much darker and more brown than the current cream color on the wall. Any suggestions?

To enjoy the warmth and company of very good friends who make life so worthwhile.

Guess Who's Sleeping Over?

Can I tell you, there's no joy like the joy of grandparenthood. These two sweeties have stolen my heart. That's Haylee on the left and Brooke on the right. Brooke's bangs are finally starting to grow back in after the infamous hair cutting incident. I treasure my moments with these beautiful babies. It will be four years this Tuesday that I sat in the oncologist's office with a very pregnant daughter-in-law and a very sick son and received confirmation of that scary diagnosis, but all is well now. Two beautiful girls and a healthy son, what more could a mom ask for?

Alice and Jerry, Anyone?

Who else remembers the Alice and Jerry readers? This is a copy of the very book that I learned to read from many moons ago. Oh, to recapture the innocence of childhood........... The pictures of my grandbabies were taken last Sunday at their great grandmother's birthday party. Aren't they adorable? I'm not a bit proud, not a bit.

Three or More Tuesday

For this week's Three or More Tuesday post, I'm sharing my collection of old bottles. It took lots of elbow grease and a bleach mixture to clean the dirt out of them but they're beautiful now, aren't they? I have no idea how old they are and really need to take time to do some research. The larger one that holds the sea grass flower is my favorite. The embossed lettering in the glass spell the words "The Mother's Friend." Must have been the Midol of the past. Hope you enjoyed my post!

My Second Three or More Tuesday Post

Just joining in on Tam's Three or More Tuesday post. My kitchen is decorated in red and gold with a French cook theme. Here are three French cooks ready to be of assistance. Hop on over to Tam's blog at http://gypsycorner.blogspot.com/ for more Three or More Tuesday posts. Thanks, Tam, for hosting the party.

The Sofa's a Hit .....

... but she's having somewhat of a love-hate relationship with the throw pillows.

The New Sofa

Okay, so here it is, the new addition to the household. The sofa, not the cat. I didn't want to get rid of my rug so I went for colors that would blend. It's a HUGE and very comfy sofa, much bigger than any others I've owned. The walls have suddenly taken on a pinkish cast due to the warm tones in the sofa. The room has needed repainting but I've been waiting on the sofa purchase to choose the new color. You know how it goes - - you purchase something new and suddenly everything needs updating. I'm not sure if a light gold or tan wall color would look better. Any thoughts on that? There's a lot of red in the rug but I've got a red dining room and that would be too much red. I've also removed the outdated shiny brass lamp that was on the side table, and I'm thinking that a nice floor lamp would be perfect in that corner. Perfect spot to kick back with a good book and a glass of zinfandel, don't you think?
