About Me

My photo
My passion is decorating with vintage and antique finds on a budget. There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of going into a goodwill. That day has passed. :) My second love is scrapbooking all those special family moments for posterity, and I recently set up my very own scrapbooking room. I have three beautiful children, two sons and a daughter as well as a sweet (albeit full blooded Yankee) daughter-in-law and two grandgirls. I also enjoy gardening, meeting new friends and relaxing on my patio in the evenings with a glass of fine wine. During the summer of 2001, I spent two glorious weeks at Kennedy Space Center. I've been somewhat of a space geek ever since....

My Second Three or More Tuesday Post

Just joining in on Tam's Three or More Tuesday post. My kitchen is decorated in red and gold with a French cook theme. Here are three French cooks ready to be of assistance. Hop on over to Tam's blog at http://gypsycorner.blogspot.com/ for more Three or More Tuesday posts. Thanks, Tam, for hosting the party.

  2. I love these cooks (maybe because we share a similar build!) Well, as they say, you can't trust a skinny cook!

  4. I was browsing your blog and noticed Susan from Between Naps on the Porch helping you with how to do things on your blog. I hope she was helpful. Sometimes it is hard to figure out how to do things. Also, if you want to put the things you have at the bottom of your blog (the buttons and your blogroll) to your sidebar you can easily move them on your Customize layout page. Just click hold until you have moved that box to where you want it then be sure to click SAVE or it won't stay there. I move things around sometimes depending on where I feel like seeing them. I have enjoyed getting to know you. My granddaughter's name is Shaylee, rhymes with your granddaughter Haylee. Your granddaughters are so cute. Mine is 2 1/2 years old now.

  6. Hey Terri,

We are painting our home and getting new energy efficient windows installed. Windows should help electric bill.

Anyway, blogmate, I'm thinking a peanut butter colored house with white trim and black shutters. Will put a white octogon vent thing over the peanut butter covered porch by the front door. We will keep the red front door. What do you think about this for an old ranch style home that currently is painted white brick with black shutters? Can you picture this?

  7. New Kid,
I love black shutters, that reminds me of all of those beautiful houses in Charleston, South Carolina. I like your color combination. Have you looked at paint chips yet? I'm going today to look for some light golds. I hate choosing paint more than anything. It's hard!

  8. Yes, it's called "peanut butter" at Home Depot. Glad you can picture this. One advantage of a peanut butter color is that if the rust from out second well water we use with sprinklers gets on the house, it will be the same color--now it shows over the brick painted white. The painter will go with me to Home Depot so we can old him accountable for how much paint we get and so we can get that six months no interest rate.

The official name of the vent thing is an "octagon gable vent" and it is only $50.83 and should come week after next.

The windows are very expensive, but are a good selling point for the house and if we live here ten years they will pay for themselves. Plus next year we get a $1500 tax credit, thanks to the new President.
