About Me

My photo
My passion is decorating with vintage and antique finds on a budget. There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of going into a goodwill. That day has passed. :) My second love is scrapbooking all those special family moments for posterity, and I recently set up my very own scrapbooking room. I have three beautiful children, two sons and a daughter as well as a sweet (albeit full blooded Yankee) daughter-in-law and two grandgirls. I also enjoy gardening, meeting new friends and relaxing on my patio in the evenings with a glass of fine wine. During the summer of 2001, I spent two glorious weeks at Kennedy Space Center. I've been somewhat of a space geek ever since....

Goodbye, Sweet Lazy Days of Summer

It's back to school time here in Louisiana..... Grrrrr......

In an attempt to sttttttttrrrrrreeeeetttttcccchhhh out the last few days of summer vacation, I'm posting a pic of my starfish chain that I copied from one I saw in a high-end gift shop in Orange Beach, Alabama. It was easy-peasy to make.... Just start with a long piece of jute and tie shorter pieces along the way. Then wrap the opposite end of each shorter piece tightly around a starfish leg and apply a little Tacky Glue to the backside. I attached some seashells for interest and VOILA.... a little taste of the beach to bring home and enjoy...... And no, I had NOT been drinking when I took this shot.... :) Even though summer vacation is ending, I'm not going to take it down until this ferocious heat starts to slack off...... Somehow colorful fall leaves just don't mix well with 100 degree temps.

  1. Great idea--celebrating summer!

I love the picture leaning up against the mantel in the background. I did that too on our mantel with an extra picture after repurposing (rearranging) things at the house.

Enjoy your remaining days of vacation!

  2. Terri-I am always struggling with my mantel--this is a great idea! It seems school starts earlier every year, doesn't it? You do an important job! Thanks!

  3. Hi Terri, long time no see. I can't change up my mantel much, as a clock we have there has a bum leg, and we do not want to move it...I try to decorate around it. I think you mantel looks great.
