About Me

My photo
My passion is decorating with vintage and antique finds on a budget. There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of going into a goodwill. That day has passed. :) My second love is scrapbooking all those special family moments for posterity, and I recently set up my very own scrapbooking room. I have three beautiful children, two sons and a daughter as well as a sweet (albeit full blooded Yankee) daughter-in-law and two grandgirls. I also enjoy gardening, meeting new friends and relaxing on my patio in the evenings with a glass of fine wine. During the summer of 2001, I spent two glorious weeks at Kennedy Space Center. I've been somewhat of a space geek ever since....

And the Countdown Begins......

Dear daughter is gleefully posting on facebook that she's 12 days away from the big dorm move as mom remembers how those years have flown by..... She always made us proud with her social self, great grades, cheerleading and dancing skills, and genuinely warm heart. We are just about ready. First, the towels.... ...and then the bedding from Pottery Barn. She and her roommate ordered matching bedding but will personalize the room with different sheet colors. Kait went for a powdery blue and Carly picked lavender.
And we didn't forget the shower tote, laundry basket, mattress pad, and that extremely essential thing on a large college campus, an UMBRELLA! She laughed at me but she won't be laughing the first day it pours!!!!

And a sweet decorative pillow monogrammed with her initial...... She won a microwave at her school's senior all-night celebration and is borrowing a mini frig.... Any ideas for a window treatment? Or what we forgot to buy? I'm gonna miss you, KK!

Sniff, sniff......

  1. Hi!
I followed you from "Lamp Tramps" place. Thanks for the sweet comment there.
I love all the things for your daughter's dorm room. With two daughters, one graduated, the other starting her jr. year, we have moved into college living a total of 7 times so far!!!
    I'm really following you now!

  3. Good luck with the transition. I remember going through this when my daughter was in college. She graduated from college in 2006.

  5. My daughter starts her junior year at Northern Arizona University in a few weeks. Her suggestions of things to get. Oscillating tower fan, white board for messages, extra black printer cartridge, extra clothes hangers and trash bin. Oh, flip flops for the shower/bathroom.

We used two shower curtain rods to hang sheers on in both of her rooms.(hung inside of window at the top) First year was turquoise and black, this year we are using solid black.
