About Me

My photo
My passion is decorating with vintage and antique finds on a budget. There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of going into a goodwill. That day has passed. :) My second love is scrapbooking all those special family moments for posterity, and I recently set up my very own scrapbooking room. I have three beautiful children, two sons and a daughter as well as a sweet (albeit full blooded Yankee) daughter-in-law and two grandgirls. I also enjoy gardening, meeting new friends and relaxing on my patio in the evenings with a glass of fine wine. During the summer of 2001, I spent two glorious weeks at Kennedy Space Center. I've been somewhat of a space geek ever since....

Spring Break in Destin

Just got back home today from a trip to Destin, Florida. My daughter went with a friend to Destin last year at this time and I wanted to reciprocate. They hung out with friends from school and left me to relax on the beach and soak up the sun........... I love the beach!
Now it's time to get back to painting. Stay tuned for details.

  1. Nice vacation! Painting the living room, or painting pictures?

Our house has been painted on the outside--just finished. We are very pleased. Of course this meant that the landscape needed work--I had paid help because it was too much to do the landscaping alone, even though I was off. No longer am I going to put down fabric under mulch. It just makes weeding more difficult I think. So the gardener trimmed bushes and put down new mulch without that fabric. Maybe the secret is having help sometimes.

  2. NewKid,
The secret to keeping the weeds at bay is those little pellets that you spread in your flower beds. They keep the weeds from rooting without harming your plants. Ask for it at your garden center. It works best under the mulch but also works when sprinkled on top.

  3. Lucky you getting a trip to Florida. I need one of those, because that is where my son and his family lives.

Leave me a comment. I'd love to hear from y'all....
