My tired and chipped Mikasa English Countryside set has been BEGGING to be retired for a while now so for my very first Tablescape Thursday, I'm highlighting my new everyday china. I absolutely ADORE the Lenox Butler's Pantry pattern but it was way out of range of my modest (well, make that nonexistent) budget so I've been keeping an eye out for a similar pattern. Lo and behold, I stopped in at Ross to waste a little time and saw the perfect dishes for the perfect price. For $30 I got place settings for 8! Not a bad deal, huh? Once I got the dishes home and unpacked them I discovered two cracked coffee cups so I packaged them up and brought them back. There was one 4 place setting remaining in a box that was coming undone so the clerk discounted it another 30%. That's 12 place settings (minus 2 coffee mugs that don't really matter) for $40! Hey, what do you think of my cheapo china? Does that make me a redneck???
Be sure to hop on over to Between Naps on the Porch to visit other Tablescape Thursday entries and be sure to congratulate Susan on her blog award!
Wow! You got a great deal! Good Job! Love your new dishes! Great Tablescape! Huggy Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWonderful table. Great deal on the dishes and you are right, it really doesn't matter about the cups. I wonder just how often anyone uses the coffee cups, these day. I don't remember the last time I actually used ours, when setting a table for several folks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tablescape! great but on the lovely dishes.

ReplyDeleteHi Terri,
ReplyDeleteThat does NOT look like "cheapo" china -- it's very clean-lined and classic. Looking forward to seeing you do wonderful things with those dishes in upcoming tablescapes.
Thank you so much for you sweet, thoughtful comments on my new blog. Hope our paths cross again very soon. Hope your weekend goes well.

ReplyDeleteHeavens, it makes you a good thrifty buyer who knows a deal when she sees it!

I love bargain dishes too. Investing in white is so smart. Just think of the tablescapes you can create with these lovely dishes!
ReplyDeleteI am hosting a Christmas in July Tablescape Party at my Playing Dishes blog. There will be one held each Saturday this month. Please come and participate or at least visit. A holiday tablecloth will be given away on the last Saturday, July 25. Info on signups is available by clicking my sidebar memes available on both my blogs.
ReplyDeleteI am also having a weekly Christmas giveaway at my Christmas Memories in My Heart blog. Weekly entries are closed out a midnight on Wednesday for this.
Hopefully some of you tablescape regulars will pull together a tablescape for CIJ or pull out some photos from last year to post.
Happy CIJ!
