Three or More Tuesday

For my Three or More Tuesday post, I'm highlighting some postcards that I picked up in Charleston, South Carolina while visiting my son when he lived there. They were very inexpensive and after being framed, they created a budget-friendly grouping that always reminds me of the colorful history of that quaint city.

Here is an example of the beautiful ornamental ironwork that the city is famous for....

I love the angle of that photo. And this one shows one of the beautiful old churches in the downtown area. We stayed at Mills House Inn and ate at Jestine's Kitchen while staying downtown. We had read about it prior to visiting and found the food TO DIE FOR...... If you ever visit, don't forget to make a stop off there and be sure to try the pecan crusted fried chicken.

This is one of the elegant old houses in the battery area. There are such strict ordinances in this area of the city that when a homeowner wants to paint his home, he must first petition the society and is given three choices of paint colors to select from......

And here is the John Rutledge House, one of the many beautiful homes located in the downtown area.

There is an open air market located in the old slave quarters nearby, where slaves were auctioned off to the highest bidders. The best way to view the area and learn about its history is to take a carriage ride. There are a number of companies that offer carriage tours that originate at the old slave quarters. Charleston is a truly beautiful city and I'd like to visit again someday. Hope you enjoyed my post and have an awesome Tuesday!
